Google Ideas : ウィキペディア英語版
Google Ideas
Google Ideas, or Ideas is a cross-sector, inter-disciplinary think tank based in New York City, dedicated to understanding global challenges and applying technological solutions. Jared Cohen, formerly with the Policy Planning Committee at the US State Department, directs Google Ideas. The think tank is organized within Google's Business Operations and Strategy area and thus is within its business operations rather than its philanthropy part.
In 2010, Eric Schmidt approached Jared Cohen to lead the new venture at Google. The team's most recent conference was the Summit Against Violent Extremism (SAVE) held in Dublin.〔
Google Ideas has come under scrutiny for its links with the US State Department and its 'regime change' activities.
== Project Shield ==
In October 2013, Google Ideas announced a new anti-DDoS initiative, Project Shield, at a conference held in New York. Project Shield aims to mitigate distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks by leveraging Google's infrastructure, helping small-scale websites, like those of activists serving "media, elections, and human rights related content" around the world.
